My sister-in-law No 2 is a primary school teacher. Besides teaching in formal school, she also owns a Calligraphy class during weekend. She loves to do calligraphy since she is in secondary school according to my MIL. Due to this, slowly she influences her nephew to attend calligraphy class whenever they are free.
Calligraphy is a good Chinese art. It calls “Shu Fa” in Chinese wording. I love to write it during my school day too. Too bad, after leaving school, I seldom practice it again. Therefore my calligraphy is bad now. Other wise I can guide my children to write calligraphy once they master the holding calligraphy brush. Now I can leave the guiding job to my SIL#2 since she has so much interest onto this art.
During Chinese New Year, my SIL will write a lot of good sentence using her calligraphy brush. Usually we will write calligraphy onto red paper. After that hang the piece of paper onto wall, kitchen, main door etc. all those wording are mean for good meaning, either bring in luck or wealth. Other than that, SIL also loves to write poem using calligraphy brush. It could be a long poem or nice song. After send to shop for framing, then we can hang it at living hall to enhance the beauty of the house. Frankly, SIL keep a lot this kind of calligraphy poem. If she will to move out one day, I think she is going to hire Art Storage company to help her for the moving!
