I cook fish curry last weekend. I bought one packet of ready made paste, jump dump everything into the paste and cook. The recipe mentioned that need to add in coconut milk, but I don’t have coconut at that time, so I replaced with my kids milk. Usually I will use their milk powder to make cake, so I think should be ok.

Before adding the milk, I try the sauce, it taste ok but after adding milk, it taste totally different. It is not tasty anymore but other family members said ok wor…eeeee…see different people different taste, lucky they say ok, other wise no one help me finish the dish.

Yesterday after work I visited Pasar Ramadan again. I am craving for Mutabak again lar. After few round of walking to all stalls, I give up Mutabak coz I want to try out other food and dessert.

Called my hubby, ask him what he wants. He just said anything will do, as long as not poisoning food coz he has itchy hands and itchy legs now. Poor him, he even don’t know what is the root cause for his itches. Btw, he is on medication and under control now.

After finish shopping at Pasar Ramadan, I bought some satay, cendol ice and some Malay kuih for my girls. The satay very tasty especially the sauce…yummy yummy….those satay do not have fat meat sandwich with the meat. I like it!

Psst..psst..I was thinking to buy satay again today! LOL

I love to eat Mutabak. It is a Malay food actually. It can be found in Pasar Malam but I just love to buy them during fasting month. Coz I noticed the ingredients is a lot as compare to those I bought from Pasar Malam. I know it is a bit pricy if I buy in Pasar Ramadan but since it taste better , so I don’t mind to pay more.

But whenever I buy for one piece, I have to finish them all by myself coz other family members don’t like it. They commented not nice wor. Haih, I think they don’t know how to eat lar. LOL

I bought some water chestnut during Mid Autumn Festive. This is my first time buying this item, but not the first time eating them. my MIL ever use it to make a toy for my girls last year, not sure this year she will make for them or not. Anyway I had keep some her, just in case she can do for them.

I boil water chestnut for almost one hour, but the shell still quite hard and I fail to open it with my hand strength. Guess what did I use to open them in order to eat the meat?

I had heard from so many news, emails and stories that instant noodles is no good to our health. Some mentioned we should put in the seasoning after the noodle is cook, cannot put in and cook to boil, so we will not get cancer from this act. But how true is the logic? I know instant noodle is an unhealthy food but I don’t think it will cause cancer, unless we eat it everyday. Right?

If instant noodle really can cause cancer, why not our government bans this food from the market? Why they still allow it sell at every where in the community? Can someone tell me the reason?

I used to sieve the flour before start the baking. Last week I found lot of maggots(or worms) in the flour , really give me a big shock. First time encounter so many maggots(or worms) in the flour. Really geli when I saw it.

Now will you dare to eat cakes that sell at shops? Will they sieve the flour before baking? Or dessert or kuih muih that have to use flour as ingredient, do you think they ever sieve it? Geeee….i don’t think so ler….better try not eat much outside food now!

Hey, finally I can show off my muffin here. Remember that I ever blog that I want to bake muffin soon? Nah, this is the picture as proof! The outlook not bad hor but the texture still not up to my expectation, I shall bake more often to improve my skill. It’s a good start!

Wien and Lyon said very nice wor…hahaha…they are my great supporter and helper too! Coz they help me fold the flour into the mixture. No doubt, they did mess up my kitchen, but still ok to me. I want them experience the process!

One of my favorite Childhood Food is Hakka Tea. I love it very much. Last weekend, me, hubby & both girls went back to my mum’s house. My mum’s place did plant those leave that use for hakka tea. So I took some of the pictures & posted big big here so that can see clearly, as I dunno how to tell the leave name..here there are…

Take about 10 slice of this leaves…

 

This one u can put more than… er er 20 slice la, normally we only agak-agak..hehe

 

This one 2 slice will do, u can fried with garlic/shallots b4 grounding also can, more fragrant.

3 types of these “life” leaves, one table spoon chinese tea(any type will do, but not so pitter one la), some sesame & peanut(the more the merrier..hehe, as I love these 2!), all pour into the pot & start grounding them. OK, just to tell you guys one thing here, some modern & smart peoples (my mum is one of them) do not use the pot to ground anymore, they use BLENDER to blend instead! Really save the job on washing the pot part!
Then pour in hot boil water, add salt & serve with 米籽. As I said in previous post, can add in fried vegetables too, more yummy!

My mum blended some of this & kept in fridger, and pass to me when I am going back, also pack some 米籽 & peanut…hehe..see , she know I love this food very much…!
