inclusion in the Unesco World Heritage City list. This great news happened some time ago.
In conjunction with this great news, now Melaka has free food to serve you people starting from 09/08/2008 till 29/08/08. Go hunt for free food while you are in Melaka. For more detail, you can read below article that I received from my mail box:
MALACCA: There is such a thing as a free meal — at least up to Aug 29
at 22 shops and stalls here.
Starting this afternoon, the Traditional Malacca Food Festival will be
offering free food at selected outlets on a first-come, first-served
basis.
The three-week festival is in conjunction with Malacca’s successful
inclusion in the Unesco World Heritage City list.
Organising committee chairman Gan Tian Loo said the state government
had allocated RM500 for each of the 22 places which will be providing
a selected menu free of charge on their chosen days.
“In total, we will be spending RM11,000 on the food festival,” he said
outside the state assembly yesterday.
The festival begins at 12.30pm today at Restoran Nancy’s Kitchen in
Jalan Hang Lekir. The restaurant will be providing Nyonya spring-rolls
popiah) and cakes.
“Patrons can enjoy the delicacies for free, but if they order other
food or drinks that is not on the selected menu, they will have to pay
for the additional items.
“Only the Nyonya spring-roll and cakes will be free while stocks last.”
He said the state government would place banners at the respective
places and strategic locations here to inform the public about the
festival, the first of its kind in the state.
