Why diesel car is not popular in Malaysia?
Most people will tell you air pollution is the main reason that stops people driving the car. Yes, this is the standard answer from the public if the question being asked. Look at the truck, buses and taxi running on the street, we can’t deny the fact air in the big cities really badly polluted by the diesel power vehicles.
What if I tell you diesel engine by nature is much environmental friendly than any petrol engine running on the road? Many people can’t accept when I say this. But look at the fact sheet that publish by the car manufacturer, you may change your mind today.
I copy past the fact sheet of C3 from Citroen website. Lets see the fuel consumption and CO2 emission of 1.4 petrol and diesel engine declare by the car manufacturer. Obviously diesel variant shows better result.
You many visit other car manufacturer web site in Europe to check for further detail if you are not satisfy with the data I show.
Most Malaysian do not aware of this because car manufacturers are not required to publish the CO2 emission level of the car sell in this country. All the while we thought the car we are driving is clean to the environment, but actually not !
