Should I wear gold?

How is Chinese New Year festive, I was thinking should I wear gold to show off to my relatives and friends? In fact I seldom wear gold or silver during any other day coz nowadays the thieft snatch handbag cases is a lot. It will be very scary if this happen us coz I am sure you will get hurt if you fall down on the road. I don’t want this happen to me, so I think I better stop wearing it for the sake of my safety. But for this festive, I think it should be ok to wear them coz I only stay home and entertain my guests and hardly go to shopping mall.
