The shop name

While I am browsing for some hotels in Kuala Lumpur, I found a hotel name as New York Hotel in city center. I wonder this hotel’s founder is an American or not? The reason I said so is the originator for Nikko Hotel in Kuala Lumpur is by Japanese. However most of the time we will get confuse by the hotel or shop name. Sometimes they just want to name their shop or brand, in order to attract more consumers. Same as restaurant over here. There are plenty of restaurants that name after a country place, just like New York Restaurants. However I wonder did they really serve authentic New York food or not? Just like some restaurant name ended with Peranakan but in real, they did not serve authentic nyonya food.
